Cape Coral, FL, February 14, 2008 - Cape Coral Eye Center is pleased to announce that three of their high school interns won first place awards in the district championship for the FBLA-PBL (Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lamda). Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) education association with a quarter million students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields. FBLA-PBL is headquartered in Reston, Virginia, and organized on local, state, and national levels.
Nadine Navarro, a senior at Cape Coral High School, won first place in the job interview category; Peter Szakaly and Richard Hendrickson, both seniors at Cape Coral High School, won first place in Web Site Development. All three students, who have been employed by Cape Coral Eye Center from one to three years, will advance to the FBLA State Leadership Conference held in Orlando, Florida on April 27-30. Top state winners are then eligible to compete for national awards at the National Leadership Conference each summer.
The Cape Coral Eye Center is a high school training center and employs students part-time after school and full-time in the summer. The students learn different jobs within the practice and are able to fill in the employee gaps where necessary, thereby, developing their leadership, communication, and team skills.
