Dr. Karen Major, AuD, is the director of audiology at the Cape
Coral Eye Center. As a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, Dr. Major is an expert in all areas of audiology
including adult and pediatric diagnostics, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Dr. Major completed her undergraduate studies at the University
of Massachusetts-Amherst in communication disorders. During this time she completed an externship at the Clark School for the Deaf where she worked alongside children with cochlear implants. Upon completing undergraduate studies, Dr. Major was one of four accepted into the Masters program at CUNY Brooklyn College. She completed externships at such notable facilities as Brooklyn College, Queens Hospital, and Bellevue Hospital. After extensive training she later graduated top in her class; the recipient of a merit scholarship. After completing her fellowship training, she obtained her Doctoral in audiology from the University of Florida. She is certified by the American Academy of Audiology and the state of Florida.
Prior to her appointment as director of audiology at Cape Coral Audiology, she practiced at the prestigious Silverstein Institute in Sarasota, and then at a thriving ear, nose, and throat facility in Naples.
Her many studies have led her to be an expert in both pediatric and adult diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology. Her services include comprehensive audiological examinations, evaluations of the 8th nerve function, tinnitus evaluations, dizziness examinations and treatment, and hearing aid evaluations and fittings.
Dr. Major hopes to advance the level of hearing and balance care that is available in Southwest Florida by providing thorough and precise diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients of all ages. In tradition with her fellow colleagues at the Cape Coral Eye Center, she aspires to undertake research studies that will advance the treatment of medical disorders, particularly in the areas of dizziness and balance in relation to ocular function.
Dr. Major also teaches dance to children at a studio in Ft. Myers, and recently married a fellow audiologist, Dr. Alan Major.
