Retinopathy
Diabetic retinopathy is an eye disease frequently found in patients with Diabetes. Blood vessels which lie on the front of the retina are damaged. These may leak and cause scar tissue to grow. The retina cannot read or transmit images through these scars, causing loss of vision.
At first there are no symptoms with diabetic retinopathy, and all diabetics are at risk for this condition. The disease doesn’t normally show itself until the patient has been diabetic for at least ten years. |
