Our Eye Care Services

We are committed to excellence by delivering modern technology with old fashioned concern.

To understand a cataract, it is important to understand how the eye works. The eye functions much like a camera. Light rays enter the eye, passing through the cornea, then the pupil and through the lens. The lens bends the light rays to focus objects onto the retina, lining the back of the eye. From there, the image passes through the retinal cells, into the optic nerve, and finally to the back of the brain which processes the images.

Imagine life without glasses or contacts. Imagine everything in clear, bright, vibrant color. You no longer strain to focus. Activities like hiking, biking, swimming, tennis and golf are much more convenient because you don't have to worry about your glasses sliding down your nose or losing a contact lens. At Tyson Eye, this freedom and comfort is precisely what we strive to achieve every day for the people who have chosen to trust their eyes to us.

Eyelid Surgery, medically known as Blepharoplasty has become one of the most popular and often performed cosmetic procedures for both men and women because of its high level of patient satisfaction. Fortunately, Medicare and most insurance companies now cover "functional" eyelid surgery for upper lids if the vision is impaired enough to hinder normal vision.

Learn more about Eyelid Surgery:

Dry eye is a very common disorder that affects a significant percentage of  the population, especially people over the age of 40. Studies vary in their estimations of this percentage, but at least one survey suggests that approximately 20% of people suffer from dry eye syndrome.

Retina disorders can affect the way that you process visual information and lead to distorted or absent vision. Tyson Eye realizes how much one relies on their vision. Using the very latest methods, our physicians can diagnose and treat many vision threatening retinal disorders.

Periodic comprehensive eye examinations are an important part of your overall health checkups.  Some diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration can be detected early and treated.  Many times patients have these diseases with no symptoms.  Left untreated, they can cause vision loss.

Patients with a family history of these diseases, and also those over 65, should have a comprehensive eye exam at least every year.  Others with no history of these diseases should have a comprehensive eye exam every two years.

During your exam, your eyes will be dilated to enable the physician to better see the retina at the back of your eye.  Since your vision will remain blurry for a few hours, you should have a driver accompany you to this office visit.

Tyson Eye has six convenient locations to serve all of your optical needs. We stock over a thousand frames at each location. Our opticians and optical consultants are very knowledgeable and will provide you with all the information necessary to help you in your eyeglass and lens selection.

As a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, our audiologist Dr. Major specializes in all areas of adult and pediatric diagnostics, treatment, and rehabilitation for hearing loss and balancedisorders.
